Severance Library Collecting Donations for Annual Turkey Food Drive

The Severance Library is encouraging patrons to drop off non perishable food items from October 27 through November 7 as part of the Annual Turkey Food Drive. A donation bin will be available in the lobby for anyone who would like to support local families in need during the holiday season.

According to Weld Food Bank, one in four people in Weld County face hunger, including one in three children. The Town of Severance has partnered with Weld Food Bank to collect items that will help provide meals across the county throughout the holiday season. The library’s central location and extended hours give residents an easy and convenient place to contribute.

Most needed items include canned meals, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, rice, pasta, canned tuna or chicken, soups, stuffing mix, canned pumpkin, shelf stable milk, and frozen turkeys. Patrons are invited to bring donated goods during their next library visit and place them in the collection bin inside the main vestibule. Additional donation sites across town include Severance Town Hall, Dollar General, and TBK Bank.

"Libraries emphasize community, which means showing up in all kinds of ways. With our central location and open hours, we are proud to serve as a donation site for the Annual Weld Food Bank Turkey Drive. We are grateful to help our neighbors give and receive this season," said Casey Lansinger Pierce, Head of Public Services.

Those who wish to participate in the culminating drive through event may also drop off frozen turkeys or non perishable food donations at Severance Town Hall on November 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, visit the Town of Severance website.
