Clearview Library District Launches New ASL Resource Through Mango Languages

Beginning August 15, Clearview Library District patrons can access a new online resource for learning American Sign Language (ASL) through Mango Languages. The program, available free with a library card, offers interactive, self-paced lessons to help learners build confidence in communication and connection.
Mango Languages provides courses in more than 70 languages, and the ASL course features real-world conversations, cultural insights, and engaging exercises. The platform also includes a “Magic Mirror” tool that allows users to compare their own signing with a pre-recorded instructor, creating an interactive way to practice.
“Our goal in offering this program is to give our community an opportunity to explore ASL as a skill for communication and curiosity,” said Christy Olsen, Mobile Services Assistant for Clearview Library District. “I highly recommend trying the ASL Inside module on Mango Languages. The mirror feature makes practicing signs easy and interactive, and parents and caregivers can quickly learn signs to use with babies and children. Even just a few signs can make a big difference — less frustration, smoother communication, and more connection.”
Olsen, who describes herself as an intermediate ASL learner, also invites community members to practice their skills at in-person library programs. She leads Babies and Books in Windsor on Friday mornings and supports Adaptive Storytime with ASL.
Patrons can access Mango Languages: ASL online with their library card.
