5 Ways the Library Can Help with Homework
The Clearview Library has a vast array of resources to help your children with their homework, school projects, papers, and more.
“Library staff are resource experts,” said Public Services Manager Casey Lansinger-Pierce. “Let us know what your child is working on, and we'll find the most age appropriate / skill-level appropriate resources for them to use!”
Utilize these great resources to help support classroom learning and projects:
Books, Books, Books
The library has more than 30,500 children and young adult books, both fiction and non-fiction, for free reading at home and school, as well as for research projects. You can search our catalog by lexile level or, if your child is an advanced reader, utilize AR Bookfinder for recommendations. In the digital realm, we have kid-friendly comics, e-books, and audiobooks available through Hoopla and Libby, while TumbleBooks provides an online collection of animated picture books that can even be read to you.
Explora Research
Explora provides access to articles, essays, videos, and primary source documents that are ideal for any research project or paper. A more reliable Google, the sources found in Explora will hold up to bibliography checks. Search by keyword, topic, or subject in age-appropriate portals for elementary, middle, and high school students.
Kanopy
Dubbed “thoughtful entertainment,” Kanopy is home to more than 30,000 films. Its documentary collection ranges from historical perspectives to modern social topics, while The Great Courses contain instructional courses from experts from across the globe. These films can be a great source for your child’s next assignment or a deeper dive on a topic touched on in class. Access kid-friendly content through Kanopy Kids, complete with parental controls. Stream Kanopy content on your favorite device through its app.
Subject-Specific Databases
The library subscribes to more than 30 topic-specific databases. Search Business Source Premier for full-text articles on business topics, like marketing, management, and finance. Discover the past with History Reference Center. Access vetted references, periodicals, and encyclopedias with Science Reference Center. Visit our research center for more databases!
