Staff Spotlight: Christy Olson
Each month we spotlight one of the friendly staff faces you’ll run into at the Windsor-Severance Library or on the bookmobile.
Hometown: Wellington, CO.
Interests: Skiing, camping, cooking, visiting local restaurants and breweries and, this may be surprising but I am a lover of books and movies.
Favorite Book: I am an Outlander (by Diana Gabaldon) devotee. The Southern Book Club's Guide To Slaying Vampires is a recent favorite and reading The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom with my family when I was young made me into a lifelong bibliophile.
Preferred Superpower: I would like to be an Elf from Middle Earth. They are immortal, have superior hearing and vision, strong, fast, have magical powers and just all around super cool!
Favorite Author: Diana Gabaldon, Jane Austen, Grady Hendrix, J.R.R Tolkien and Susanna Kearsley.
Favorite Vacation Spot: I have a dream of visiting Europe with my husband one day. Otherwise, a cabin in the mountains with snow all around and a fire in the hearth is my ideal.
What three people (dead or alive) would you invite to a dinner party? My Grandma Paula, Grandpa Bill and my Father who have left this earth.
Favorite Quote: “Sometimes she craved a little danger. And that was why she had book club.” Grady Hendrix, The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, “Would you like an adventure now, or would you like to have your tea first?” J. M. Barrie, Peter Pan. “All the things that are wrong in the world seem conquered by a library’s simple unspoken promise: Here I am, please tell me your story; here is my story, please listen.” Susan Orlean, The Library Book.
Job at the Library: Mobile Services and Bookmobile Queen (a title I happily share with Katie N at the library).
