Local author spotlight

Interested in being featured in our Local Author Spotlight?

Each month, we’ll feature a local author in our newsletter and on our website. Featured books should have been published within the last two years and the author should be local to Clearview Library District. The Library will hold the author’s work to the same standards as those used for collection development. Please query Casey at if you would like to be featured. We will also add a donated copy of your book to the Library’s collection.

Warrior Princess by Kris Ayers

Kiana, the Warrior Princess, is a delightful and compassionate young lady who takes her responsibility of keeping her small village of Feliz safe and free from Negative Nellies very seriously. Her gift of an open heart allows her to communicate with and to recruit the help of animals that live nearby. Oscar the Ostrich, among other animal friends, helps Kiana through a difficult time by coaching her to see her problem from a different perspective. The teamwork, friendship, and positive influence of her teammates and friends allow her to regain joy, renewed purpose, and motivation in all that she does and makes everything possible.
This story is unique as it speaks to all ages and cultures and is as simple or complex as the reader chooses to make it. It has been used in first grade all the way through high school classes and athletics and has even been an adult book study. It is currently part of the BstrongBfit after school girls running club sponsored by the Healthy Kids Club and UCHealth. There are 29 discovery questions at the end of the story that challenge the reader and can be used to promote and inspire conversation and critical thinking.
