BookMobile
The BoMo strives to bring the love of literacy to the doors of our patrons. Here are some of the activities currently going on within our department and out on the streets:
Did You Know?
The bookmobile actually weighs 25,000 pounds (books and all).
Day Care Story Times
We make story time easy for those children attending child care daily by visiting the child care centers and bringing story time to them. Story times consist of songs, finger plays, rhymes and occasional crafts along with the readings of favorite books!
Our staff conducts weekly story times at the following child care centers:
New for Summer – Jungle Cubs Child Care at Windsor Gymnastics (Mondays at 9:00am and 2:00pm)
Kindercare Learning Center (Wednesdays at 9:00 am)
Kids Haven (Fridays at 9:30 am)
Windmill Child Enrichment Center (Fridays at 9:30 am)
Extended School Year (ESY)
The BoMo will visit the students involved in this program at Skyview Elementary all summer long! Our staff will be conducting story times inside the classrooms and kindergarteners through high-schoolers will have the opportunity to use the BoMo for reader’s advisory, check-out and summer reading program check-in.
Good Samaritan Book Club Gathering
This group meets at Good Samaritan – Water Valley Resort every Wednesday at 1:00pm. Residents gather with Outreach staff to discuss current reads, authors and interesting potential reads. Staff also provides computer training to the residents of Good Samaritan to assist them with basic computer skills such as email and document creation.
WHS Bookaholics
This high school book club meets monthly in the high school library during lunch. The students run the show and choose the books, the time, the food, the games, etc.
Windsor Middle School Book Club
The Windsor Middle School book club is for 6th, 7th and 8th graders at WMS and meets twice monthly on Fridays over each class’ lunch hour. The middle schoolers bring their lunches to the library and discuss the book for the month as well as their personal current reads. This group is open to all WMS students and offers a fun way to get together and read new books.
Early Release Programming with the Community Rec Center
The Outreach Department has partnered with the Community Rec Center to bring library programming to their Kid’s Club after school program on early release Mondays. Elementary students are able to join us for a half hour program involving a story and activity during their afternoons at the Rec Center. This is another great opportunity to share the love of literature with those children who are unable to come to the library! (Registration for this program is through the Rec center.)
The Bookmobile is a convenient library service for every library patron.
